The Roses

So many seem to walk the paths of life always stopping to smell the roses but never understanding the gravity of moving on. I tend to walk by the gardens of life and jump the fence to steal the essence of the flower, why smell the rose when you can reach down and grab hold? In doing so you release the ties that bind you to normalcy, to company, to ritualistic haunts. Jump the fence and enter the garden, grab the rose and steal it from the grounds grip. If you prick your finger on the thorn of temptation reaching for that rose of redemption then the blood lost was worth the pain endured. You then can plant your own garden, you take the rose and nurture it, you start a garden of your own so that you can look across the horizon and see many others who are like you stopping to smell the flowers, only these flowers are yours. You are no longer walking blindly with sight, you have now truly seized the opportunity to be one who understands the gravity of simply smelling the scent of beauty, you are now the one that offers that experience to those who do not have the courage or fortitude to jump the fence and embrace the challenges and rewards that come with such a endeavor. See anyone can plant a garden but only a special few can grow a rose, so today will you simply stop to see a difference made, or will you make a difference?

  4. So beautifully put Ron. I wish I could jump the fence instead of just smelling the roses. Some challenges just seem so hard.I truly need to keep your words in mind. After a while smelling the roses will get boring and you will no longer enjoy the scent of them. Then the true beauty of the rose will be lost. We really do need to reach down and grab a hold of one once in a while to enjoy the true essence. If we fail at nurturing it at least we have had the experience of jumping the fence. Then we can pass on the experience and help encourage those who simply smell the rose. Hope we do more fence jumping in the future.

  5. I have always been a very positive person, one who believes in taking out the time to stop & smell the Roses. My reasoning is, if God took out the time to create the Roses (which He did), then we should at least take out the time to enjoy their amazing beauty & fragrance. But life has recently thrown me a curve ball in the form of moving half-way across the country, away from our complete network of family & friends. After about a month of being a transplant with no roots I lost all joy in not only Roses, but in all flowers & everything else. The tears wouldn't stop flowing. So another month later and I have discontinued the anti-depressant. I'm finding friends, a good church and joy in the Roses again. But this little insight into Ronnie's mind is helping me to see a step further. I'm most definitely going to live to make a difference, not just enjoy the beauty & fragrance. Thanks for shaing this Ronnie!

  6. I have always took the time out of every day to stop and smell the roses but there have been some days, I have grabbed the roses so I could appreciate their beauty and worth instead of just their fragrance. We need to take/make time for God because if we don't take/make time for God, then he might just stop taking/making time for us. Where would we all be if God did not give his only son to die on that cross so we can be saved if only we believe and ask? He took time for us so we need to take the time for him. I always live to make a difference but I do like to see the differences made also.
